Keith Carter keynote address immediately following the Portfolio Walk in the Nasher Atrium | Cash Bar
Please join the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University and the Click! Photography Festival for an evening with legendary photographer Keith Carter. Keith’s festival keynote address coincides with the release of a career spanning monograph published by the University of Texas Press, “Keith Carter—Fifty Years“.
Carter is a distinguished artist, author, educator, and occasional musician. Keith Carter holds the Endowed Walles Chair of Art at Lamar University in Texas. He has been awarded the Lange-Taylor Prize from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University and recently spent time in North Carolina as a Cassilhaus Resident Artist. He is recipient of the prestigious Texas Medal of Arts and the Regent’s Professor Award from the Texas State University System. Keith is a prolific artist whose work has been shown in over 100 solo exhibitions in thirteen countries. He is the author of eleven books: Fireflies, A Certain Alchemy, Opera Nuda, Ezekiel’s Horse, Holding Venus, Bones, Mojo, Keith Carter Photographs: Twenty-Five Years, Heaven of Animals, The Blue Man, and From Uncertain to Blue. A DVD documentary of his work titled The Photographer’s Series: Keith Carterwas produced by Anthropy Arts.
The Click! Photography Festival’s annual portfolio reviews at the 21c Museum Hotel conclude with a portfolio walk that will be held in the Great Hall at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University. This is a great opportunity for the public to view the work of the Click! Class of 2018, the curated group of 20 artists that participated in the portfolio reviews and mingle with the esteemed Click! reviewers. It will immediately precede the evening’s keynote address in the Nasher’s auditorium, featuring photo legend Keith Carter. There will be light snacks and a cash bar. This event is free and open to the public.
